- 5th May: celebrations for Santa Prisca, patron saint of the village.
- 10th May: celebrations for Sant'Isidoro, patron saint of crops.
- 1st Sunday in June: celebrations for Corpus Domini. On this occasion all the village take part to the decoration of walls, balconies and gates with white sheets and tapestries. The streets are covered with mint, rose petals, carnations and other sweet-smelling flowers to honour the passage of the Holy Host.
- 24th June: celebrations for St. John the Baptist in the ancient church dedicated to this saint in the centre of the village.
- 29th June: celebrations for St. Peter and St. Paul. In the evening people gather round a huge bonfire. By tradition parents light small fires too and children are supposed to jump over them. The lighting of the bonfire and the jumping over the small fires are certainly related to pre-Christian traditions and have a meaning of purification.
- 17th July: celebrations for the patron saint of the village, the most important one, San Sperate. The "Sagra delle Pesche" (Feast of Peaches) takes place in the same period.
- 2nd November: by tradition, in the day devoted to the commemoration of the dead children go house to house asking for small offerings for the souls of the dead. On this occasion housewives bake the traditional cake "pan' e' saba".
.
- 12th December: celebrations for Santa Lucia, an enormous fire is lighted and people who come to see it ask the Saint to protect their sight and to heal any eye-disease.
It’s been now several years that different music and theatre events, photo exhibitions, dog and mushroom shows take place in different times of the year. |
